Common questions
Which iPhones work?
PlanSnap needs the LiDAR sensor, which Apple only fits to the Pro models. That means an iPhone 12 Pro or newer — Pro and Pro Max — running iOS 17 or later. The standard and Plus models do not have the sensor, so the app cannot scan on them.
How accurate is it?
Typically within 1 to 2 per cent on a length in good light. That is comfortably inside what a portal listing, a valuation or a quote needs. Poor light, mirrors, glazing and heavy clutter all make it worse, so scan with the lights on and the curtains open.
PlanSnap is meant for marketing, planning and record keeping. It is not certified for structural engineering or legal land surveys — check any figure independently before you rely on it.
What is in the export pack?
One folder, eight files, each named for the place it goes:
- floorplan-ground.png — 1600 by 1200. Goes in the floor plan slot
- floorplan-first.png — One image per floor, same size
- hero-rightmove-1024x683.jpg — Sized 3:2 for the first photo on Rightmove
- hero-zoopla-1024x768.jpg — Sized 4:3 for Zoopla
- 22-cedar-rise-floorplan.pdf — A4 sheet with a scale bar, for clients and print
- dimensions-and-sqft.txt — Paste straight into either portal description
- room-schedule.csv — Every room, dimension and area in a spreadsheet
- metadata.json — Areas, date and the accuracy stamp
Put the plan images in the floor plan slot on the portal, not the photo slot. That is what earns the floor plan badge in search results.
How do I scan more than one floor?
Scan each floor as its own scan inside the same property. Start at the front door of the floor you are on, walk the whole floor in one go, then finish and add the next floor to the same property. The pack builder writes one plan image per floor and totals the areas across all of them, so the ground floor and the first floor arrive in the same folder.
Do not try to walk a staircase mid-scan. Stop at the top or bottom of the stairs and start a fresh scan on the next floor.
How do I restore a purchase?
Sign in with the same Apple Account that bought the subscription, open PlanSnap, go to the paywall or settings and tap Restore. Your subscription lives with your Apple Account, so a new phone or a reinstall gets it back without paying again.
How do I cancel?
Cancel in your Apple Account settings, not in the app: on your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose PlanSnap and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends or it renews. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Where does my data live?
On your phone. Every scan is processed on the device, there is no PlanSnap server and no account, and no scan is ever uploaded. Scans, photographs, dimensions and export packs leave the phone only when you send them somewhere yourself with the iOS share sheet. The app does send anonymous crash and usage events so we can find out what is breaking, and those never carry a measurement, an address or an image. The privacy policy sets out the detail.
